What are Terpenes?
Terpenes, otherwise known as terpenoids, are volatile chemicals that emit a range of pungent aromas. Each terpenoid is a natural hydrocarbon that is found within the oils of cannabis and hemp plants.
It has been estimated that there are well over 200 terpenes in the cannabis plant, but only a rather small number of them comprise the majority of the cannabis products on the market today. These include camphene, carene, caryophyllene, humulene, limonene, linalool, myrcene and pinene, respectively.
Those familiar with the cannabis plant probably already know that terpenes work synergistically with cannabinoids, the closely related chemical compounds found in cannabis.
